cityview.jpgIntroduction

The City of Moreland begins just five kms from the CBD. Moreland has a well-established high quality manufacturing base, a growing business services sector and a lively mix of entertainment venues and multicultural restaurants.

New private sector investment in Moreland is taking many forms - revitalised industry precincts; new growth in professional services businesses; exciting re-use of former industrial sites for mixed business and residential development, all actively supported by the City of Moreland.

The City has strong and active forms of business support including a seminar series, business round table lunches and the Moreland Community Enterprise Centre and the Brunswick Business Incubator, which provide start-up businesses with office space and assistance.

Suburbs in the City of Moreland are Brunswick, Brunswick East, Brunswick West, Coburg, Coburg North, Fawkner, Glenroy, Oak Park, Pascoe Vale and Pascoe Vale South.

Moreland is one of Melbourne's manufacturing centres. As the first point of contact for many people migrating to Australia, local manufacturing industry has played a vital role in employing thousands of people.

The City is well serviced by road, rail and tram routes, including the Upfield train line, Hume Highway, Bell Street, Tullamarine Freeway and the M80 Ring Road.

Kodak, a large photographic paper manufacturer located in Coburg, employs over 1,000 people.

Community diversity

Moreland has one of the most diverse populations in Melbourne with people from all over the world. It is the embodiment of a successful multicultural community. The diverse nature of the community leads to an exciting array of shops, restaurants, community organisations and businesses. Moreland is a constant surprise as cultures and people live and work together. More than 36% of Moreland's residents were born overseas; 45% of Moreland's residents (aged five years or more) speak a language other than English at home.

New growth & investment

New private sector investment in Moreland is taking many forms - revitalised industry precincts; new growth in professional services businesses; exciting re-use of former industrial sites for business in Coburg, Brunswick and Glenroy and residential development, all actively supported by the City of Moreland.

When stage two and three are completed, the Brunswick Business Incubator will be home to over 100 small businesses in the City of Moreland, offering facilities and office suites, conference rooms and meeting rooms.
