Reducing energy costs & emissions in the new carbon economy era

NORTH Link and RMIT University have been actively engaged in greenhouse emission reduction activities since 1998 and continue to do so with many successes. 

On Friday, 11 November 2011, at a high level presentation event at RMIT University's Bundoora Campus, final year Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Engineering (Sustainable Energy) students from the university presented over 20 outstanding case studies and projects that were undertaken with 16 businesses from Melbourne's north over the past year.

This program is offered in conjunction with the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at RMIT University involving fourth year Bachelor of Engineering (mechanical and aerospace) students, and postgraduate Master of Engineering (Sustainable Energy) students working with firms selected by NORTH Link, on the technical and financial evaluation of the implementation of identified emission-reduction measures.

The program aims to:

  • reduce business costs, emissions and usage of electricity, gas, LPG, petrol, diesel and other energy
  • identify possibilities for use of re-newables such as solar, wind, biomass and other sources of energy

Students are required to complete the research as part of their final year assessment. They are closely supervised by their RMIT lecturer to ensure quality and that your needs are met.

A full and detailed assessment report is provided to firms on completion including recommendations for implementation.
