Recreation

Melbourne's North is home to a range of recreational activities and attractions, from lakes and creeks, horse riding and mountain ranges; to sporting associations and grounds, festivals, clubs and shows.

There are also a number of natural parks and reserves located in Melbourne's North, in which you can go bushwalking or jogging through foothills and up peaks, take a horse trail ride through the valleys, or simply enjoy the serenity.

Recreational and journey-to-work cycling in Melbourne's North is an important part of its liveability, with a web of bicycle paths that weave through the Cities of Darebin, Hume, Moreland, and Whittlesea.

Melbourne's North boasts some of Victoria's main tourist attractions in the form of historical sites, including the German settlement - Ziebells Farmhouse, Pentridge Prison and Rupertswood (birthplace of The Ashes).

Whatever your chosen recreational sport activity, the cities of Melbourne's North have plenty to offer, including 16 golf courses, 54 tennis clubs and 15 swimming pools, as well as an extensive social infrastructure of clubs, sporting bodies, community and special interest groups.
